Will my old Canon EOS 500 lens work on the EOS 400D Digital Camera?

I want to buy a Canon EOS 400 digital SLR and I heard that the lenses Canon are compatible reverse. I have 2 lenses that fit my EOS 500 35mm film and just wanted to know if they would work in the digital camera. I also some advice for that did the work that they work, and the one that came with the camera. Thanks
