How do I convert my 8mm video camcorder digital video on my computer?

I have a Sony Hi8 camcorder Handicam. It uses 8mm tapes. I want to make DVDs of my home videos. Is it possible to do this? If yes, what should I do? My camcorder has a mini A / V adapter cable RCA red, white and yellow. I have no firewire on my computer.
