Help! I just bought a Sony SLR camera …..?

I just bought a Sony A200 DT18-70mm F3.5-5.6 Camera and lens kit. Along with the camera I bought a DT55-200mm F4-5.6 lens. I really do not know anything about these cameras. I read customer reviews and it seemed like a good choice for beginners like me. The salesman at Circuit City was also clueless! I think I have a good deal. I paid $ 650 for the camera, lens and a case. Was this a waste? Do I still need the lens? He was also trying to sell me a SanDisk Extreme 3 memory card. I must have bought it? Can anyone recommend a good book to help me introduce my new toy? Thank you for all your help and advice! :)

It appears that you have a great camera, but can be more you need as a beginner. My camera does everything I need to do, but had problems with the batteries over the past four years. I constantly read and study, but still has Mystries beyond my reach. I do not solve the battery problem in the past two months so I am passing this along to you. Could find no one to help, so I hope it helps. My camera has 5.2 mega pixels, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster and takes less memory. Moreover, only has a 3x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. Never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality of pictures it takes … like magic. Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own. After you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between the batteries and camera. digital cameras require lots of energy. If the electrical contacts are not really good, this can cause many problems for the battery contacts and camera must be properly cleaned. The batteries can have a full charge, but will be seen by the camera so low that the contacts are not really good. The LCD is a constant load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus and flash charging are added in the capture mode, is a heavy load. With bad contacts, cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting the lens out.
