The 8GB SDHC card is the best?
I just bought a new D-SLR, the Canon Rebel XSi. I have regular SD memory cards for it, but the letters are slow and can not keep the camera with 12.2 mega pixels. I want to buy an 8GB SDHC card and I want it quick enough for the full potential camera. It is 20MB / s too slow? It is 30mb / s too fast? I want to buy the perfect card for the XSi read / write speed. Someone know what is best?
I also use the 450D (XTi) and use an 8GB Sandisk Extreme III. The Extreme III is about as fast as SD or MMC card available. That said .. did you know that the 1GB, 2GB and 4GB SD versions of this card are thoroughly actually faster than the 8GB card? But honestly, you do not will be able to tell the difference. I only shoot in RAW + JPEG. This causes each file size of 20MB each. I shoot about 5 continuous frames before busy message 'buffer' comes up. You're not really going to get faster than that. And normal single shot often quick shot (even when shooting RAW + JPEG). If you're just shooting Jpeg (not a good idea) you can shoot at least 50 frames continuously occupied before the message kicks in. Check the link below … gives you the SD and SDHC performance results when using the XSi … but SanDisk Extreme III or the Lexar Pro is great. I would not buy the PNY because simply has no representative, the name and reliability of the other two brands.
