Panasonic Minidv Camcorders

Panasonic MiniDV Camcorder USB transfer to PC?
I have a Panasonic NV-GS60 MiniDV Camcorder and want to transfer my images to PC via USB. I run Vista and when I plug the camcorder, Vista makes a sound indicating new hardware has been added and starts to install the drivers. This completes and says successfully. However, when I go to Windows Movie Maker, the camcorder is not recognized for me to capture from. This is the same for all other software digital video editor too. Is there a solution to this? *** Please do not say use FireWire as I want to do this ***
If you want to download, you have no other choice. As others have said, sorry … u'll have to use a FireWire 400 cable for transferring videos from mini DV to a PC running Vista. Perhaps by design Vista … to avoid loss of video quality ~ affected. I wud agree to use sparingly USB if the transfer process is done with a PC running XP. But still, there wud be any degradation of video quality, then u'll go finally back to Firewire 400.
