Panasonic Ag Camcorders

Almost completed a camcorder video review with countless reviews of the manufacturer's specifications, site reviews and tech forum posts, it became clear that the really important things. Like many aspects of today's technology, many of the features offered on camcorders are never used. Camcorders are categorized according not only to the use for which they are applied by the user, but also the degree of automation desired.

Camcorders consumption – are light, handheld cubic point and click convenience. Just donÂ't expect me to read more than 4 pages in the manual.

Prosumer Camcorders – are for those consumers seeking to extend their shooting environments and require manual override settings for aperture, focus, zoom and light control. Prosumer camcorders are often used by wedding videographers, and corporate presentations.

Professional Camcorders – What are the big heavy guns mounted with the shoulder, an external microphone, and low light film like quality. These documentaries by camcorders. Of the features, the following were singled out as being most important to the Prosumer. Although I tried to put in order Priority based on examinations of user feedback, I agree this is very subjective issue.

1. Manual supervisory capacity – for Prosumer is quality over the need to manually adjust focus, openness and light are critical.
2. Low Light – with most Prosumer camcorders having 1 / 3? 3CCD chips, elements which focus the light and render more color and saturation are preferred. Low light is extremely variable between camcorders and is generally very low in most consumer models.
3. Button placement and size – its all very well having control features manual, but if access to these features is too difficult, so is the filming. Manual buttons on the cabinet buttons are preferable to the LCD touch common to Sony Camcorders.
4. Image quality – it is normally the image quality basis, without manual intervention. That manual control is standard at Prosumer, the standard automatic image quality does not rate as highly as the ability manipulate manually.
5. Size and Handling – Prosumer camcorders are much bigger than the consumer handheld models. The Most are tube like in dimensions, except the very fortunate Panasonic AG DVC30 which is more cubical. Balance in hand is important, although most prosumers recognize that for quality video, using a tripod is essential.
6. Night Function – night function was previously managed by slowing the shutter speed. This may have been fine for still landscapes, but add a little motion and you add a bunch of blur shake. Other IR options resulted in a greenish / yellow film. Again, the Panasonic AG DVC30 has triumphed here with a totally different approach.
7. Inbuilt Audio – anyone serious about video quality is also serious about audio quality. No camcorder will give you high quality audio from a microphone. But these two models – one that is farthest away from the microphone noise operations still camera, the Panasonic. Get an idea that this model has come on top?
8. Price / Value – prices vary considerably one store to another. For example, the Panasonic AG DVC30 can cost as little as $ 1,400 to nearly $ 2,500. There are many comparison sites but check First availability – what they state online is not always accurate.

Prosumer models that came in mind to were:

1. Panasonic AG DVC30
2. Sony DCR VX-2100 [although technically a professional camcorder, its price is comparable]
3. Canon GL2
4. Sony DCR TRV-950

The first two are quite close in scoring [13 and 15] and the bottom two are equal, but a long way down the points [26]. Points were awarded in terms of ranking 1 to 4 of the models, then totaled. No scientific or weighted but it provides a base on results of the models.
