Nikon Digital Cameras Philippines

I'm not going to the north, often because of my daily routine is close to home in Laguna.

Last year in August, I had to visit a client in Pampanga so I drove the North Luzon Expressway, the first time since its expansion. That was when I saw the sign of Candaba Bird Sanctuary on the other side of the highway. As bug camera was perfect for my first hands-on bird photography.

The right gear.
I like to shoot macro and still life so my art is not really suitable for any type of wild game. But I was able to get my hands on a diminutive Nikon D40 and a long-ish 70-300mm f4-5.6G AF Zoom Nikkor. This is not expensive and certainly far from being professional.

The other gear essential part of the zoom lens is a monopod. Is very useful, especially after shooting a few hours and the hands or arms are getting tired. The camera begins to shake and that can make your images softer than it should. A tripod will do, but it is more bulky to carry.

Time is important.
The best time to go is October to February, when the birds escape the cold and race. A recent report by the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines said of some 17,000 migratory birds that have Candaba recently.

We were getting very unpredictable weather and extreme lately so it's important to plan your trip in advance. Check weather forecast. If the forecast is monsoon or tropical storms, it is best to cancel the trip.

Helpful Hints.
The images of my camera was far from encouraging. I met Jack S. who played hookie from work that day and he shared his technique learned from several walks in Candaba.

I learned to shoot in aperture priority, using the wider than f / 8 to get the maximum sharpness of my lens. With the 70-300mm f4-5.6G AF Zoom Nikkor I should F11 shoot on a tripod when zoomed to 300 millimeters to produce better results.

I can live with a shutter speed of 1 / 250 to 300 mm, but at 1 / 125 as the lowest shutter speed I can only hope for 1 to 2 shots that will produce clear images. Check the shutter speed often but stay in aperture priority. Furthermore, setting the camera to continuous focus mode or even switch to manual pre-focus on a stick or a total irrigated area will yield better images. Modern technology VR (Nikon image stabilization) helps a lot, but the sharp focus is still the most important technique no matter what their art.

Finally I am very eager to try something out on my next one I see on Animal Planet, and that is to start with a hide – like a blanket or behind green foliage. You can compose and check your camera settings in more detail below, or hide behind. Your mind will not go to tell him "you're exposed, shot now because now the birds will see you and fly away."

Earth-toned clothing help too. Pack a raincoat and some material weatherproof for your photographic equipment.

With these added I hope that my knowledge for best picture when it comes to migration.

If you have a digital SLR, these days a lot of people do, why not try to photograph life wild?
