Native 24p Camcorders

The Canon HV40 MiniDV camcorder is based on what belongs to the Vixia line of the company of high definition (HD) video cameras. It is one of the few camcorders that use miniDV tape from any manufacturer that have been published for 2009. However, it offers only slight improvements to its predecessor, the HV30. Thus, apart from a few design changes and the addition of the native form of the progressive 24p, the HV40 is essentially the same as the HV30.
The Canon HV40 is the low noise level and strong color saturation. Its 10x zoom is provided with a blanket automatic and it performs decently in low light conditions. Its manual controls offer several scene modes, image effects and presets white balance. It offers a good selection of options for frame rate and offers high definition and standard definition recording capabilities video. The buttons are easily accessible and its battery has a good battery life.
However, the design of the Canon HV40 is bulky and awkward. His images are not as sharp as the Canon S10 HF and HF S11 and it has the color accuracy than average. It does not have a full manual mode and photographs can be stored on the miniSD card instead of the best known of SD / SDHC.
The Canon HV40 is cheaper than the Panasonic HDC-TM300 the camcorder, but it has more features and has a comfortable handle. The TM300 is also easier to use for novices and has a ring of the target and many manual controls that are not available in the HV40.
Compared with its cousin, the S100 HF, the HV40 is a bit cheaper, but the S100 has better HF performance and features, besides the fact it uses flash memory instead of tape. On the other hand, the S100 HF is not provided with a native 24p mode and it has no viewfinder.
In conclusion, the HV40 meets the requirements of those who still prefer to work with the videotape. It may also better than models with flash memory, if the price is a major consideration. However, getting a HV30 may be less costly a better choice if native 24p mode is not necessary.
