Working with video camcorders such as, HDR-HC1 Sony can produce serious business. HD video contains four times the number of pixels that standard definition offers, and it is much more heavily compressed. Keep in mind you need a powerful computer with lots of memory to deal with the extra data and compression.
Pinnacle for example, recommends a minimum of 512 MB of RAM and a graphics card with 128 MB of RAM for standard resolution video, although that rises to a GB of RAM and a 256MB graphics card when working with 1080i HD video. You can find lots of software that supports editing high definition video. For example, the latest versions Pinnacle Studio and Ulead Media Studio 8 can import and edit files in HDV format. Although high-definition video with these types look good in playing on an HDTV at the moment is that there is no way to store HD video on a DVD.
The only way you can store HD video for playback on your PC or the same type of media you used in your HD camcorder. There is however, a new generation format high definition optical media coming soon. The products are based on the HD-DVD and Blu-ray are very expensive, and it will remain that way for the future close. HD-DVD have been announced earlier that it will cost $ 500 or more, and will be available very soon. You'll also need one of the HD-DVD new readers to write to the disk, which will cost as much again. The same story with the Blu-ray, because the recorders and players will be expensive.
There is another option as well. It is a DVD player from KISS, the DP-600, which can play high definition files that have been compressed format of Microsoft Windows Media 9 format. At least it can provide a stop until the price of HD-DVD and Blue-ray disc players and writes down affordable. The video you have through the camcorder itself can still read the file, although you should not expect to write on a disk with the currently available equipment and preserve its quality. If you wait it out, the new generation of media available will be everything you need for your HD video.
