What is the best way to clean the lens of a digital camera?

My digital camera was dropped in a drink and now the lens has spots all about it. The camera is good is just the lens that is messed up. Does anyone know a way to clean the lens without having to take it in to a store? Or if I need to do to take it in to a camera shop on cost?
