How do you take underwater photos? What equipment do I need?

I'm going to key Flordia within two weeks. I know all about the box of water camera (which cost a lot). I was thinking of buying desposible underwater cameras, but my instructor that the cameras would not get good photos. I own a digital SLR camera, but I think it would be risky to bring underwater, even with a cover. Should I buy a digital camera waterproof (camera types?)? All solutions (that do not require much money)? Moreover, there is some "rules" to take underwater photos? Finally, there are procedures to take good underwater photos?

Rubbish. The disposable will be OK if you are just snorkeling, but the picture quality sucks royally (under water only). I tried using disposable 30 (?) Meters in 10 dives in Cozumel and NOT underwater photos were even a little acceptable. You reference an instructor, then we can assume that you are diving. Most divers go for budget conscious leisure Pro for their non-life support accessories, but until then you will see boxes are not cheap. Best bet is to delay the photo until you can drop to $ 200 in a housing quality for your digital camera. Rules-Always be aware of your surroundings. You and your comrades to safety is the first, getting a shot of the mermaid is a distant second. It's all about the light. If by "rules" you mean 'laws' when shooting underwater, the answer is "if you can see it, you can shoot it" (less diving area 51). Good luck!
