Digital Cameras Tasmania

I can send pictures from my digital camera directly to my portable hard drive without connecting to my pc?
I have a Cannon PowerShot A550, that will upload images directly to a printer. I just got a portable hard drive, which requires the power of both powerpoint and a USB port, before wake. Both the camera and connect the disk to the PC via a USB size two, with a small male B (?) Connector on the device, and a large (male?) Connector PC. If I have a male to A male adapter to connect the camera directly to your hard drive, so I could use the function to carry my camera move photos to the hard disk, and the connection to the camera to meet a requirement of the unit of secondary energy? I'm going on holiday to Tasmania over a week, and the United States for three months of next year, but I do not have a laptop, so I need a way to store all those photos, so that I can have more! Thanks for your help!
The answer is probably not. You need an interface of some sort for the camera and hard communication and the hard drive itself does not have that. Memory cards are cheap and small – buy a lot before you go. Alternatively would be something like the Epson P-3000 is a portable hard drive can be used to store pictures, and music files. It has a display screen to you can view them too.
