What is the best brand of digital camera for my situation?

Hello, I'm looking for some good advice on which brand and model of digicam should I go to. I was always partial to Olympus, but I see less than stellar reviews about them lately. I went to steves-digicams already, and how good a site is, it is also overwhelming. I want a point and shoot that has to look at SLR. Minimum 5.0 MP and at least 3X optical. I use it mainly for personal use but some professionals that requires a bit more quality at times. I'm not looking to break the bank in one, but I realize that will come at a price. I'm looking for $ 200 range, and not any more than $ 250. So what do all the professionals out there, I think that would work for me?
