What camera should I start by animatio stop motion?
I was wondering what the best camera to buy is for new and good looking animations. Im only 14 and have been using a web cam too bad small. I't would be nice if it were a camera and I have been looking at the Sony HDR-CX11 High Definition Camcorder and Sony HDR-SR11. Im not sure if they will even work to stop issuing beacue motion to view live cameras with hard drive, but the HDR-CX11 is a stick flash of the camera, but I do not know if that makes a difference. Im also open to the idea of a digital camera. I am open to any sujestions, thanks: D
If you are just starting, do not use a digital camera, there is a sh itload the problems you need to overcome when using a digital camera to stop motion. A good webcam or camcorder is much easier to use for beginners stop motion animators. Using digital cameras to stop motion is still in its infancy, and most point and click cameras are terrible and is not suitable at all for the purpose of animation. Absolute manual controls are necessary when using a digital camera, otherwise your white balance and autofocus on your camera will be moving from image to image, that will royally screw up your picture. In addition, an AC power adapter is needed, for stop motion takes a long time to shoot. If the battery runs out in middle of your shot as soon as you get the camera to recharge batteries to change, you screwed up your entire photo. Even with a camera that has manual settings, digital cameras have intermittent problems when used for stop motion due to the electric light bulb that vibrates and flows. In addition, most cameras digital (especially the points and then) will not be recognized by stop motion frame-grabbing software. As such, it is preferable to use a high-end webcam or a camera video with a USB or FireWire. Any camera will be able to be recognized by the software stop motion. Keep in mind that will be hooked upand capture images through the video feed, so is the video resolution is important, not its resolution digital still image.
