Digital Cameras Lag Time

I am looking for a new digital camera that has less lag between taking photos. Is there a term for this?
I'm just wondering what is the term technical for the period for the camera to be ready between taking a picture to the next.
Lag The term refers to the delay between pressing the button shutter and the camera actually shooting for the shot. Shutter lag with the camera is already focused. "Shoot high-speed shot-'é how fast the camera is ready to take the next shot. The shot-to-shutter speed decreases when you use the flash because the flash usually takes a few seconds to check – known as the "recycling rate." And then there's the 'FPS' – how many frames per second the camera can take when you put in so continuous shooting. — When people complain about your camera being slow, there are usually three things happening: * The shutter lag. This is lower 1/10th second on all models, and practically nonexistent with the digital SLR cameras. * The rate of auto-focus. Some cameras are faster than others and some are considerably longer in low light. It always helps to pre-focus if you have the opportunity. * EVF lag. With point and shoot, the camera needs to 1/10th second to design an image to the viewfinder. This 1/10th second lost before even pressing the shutter button! (Digital SLR cameras do not have it.) Shutter So lag is not all. Before buying a camera, look for a thorough review of the http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html in history!
