Digital Cameras Information

What digital SLR cameras have minimum lag between depressing the shutter button and closing the shutter? NikonD40x?
Digital cameras earlier had considerable lag between the time you depressed the shutter button and when he actually takes the picture, very unlike the film cameras traditional, where the image is taken instantly. As a result, I found most digital cameras in terms of poor response time when taking action. Has been an improvement in this lately? I have not been able to locate information on this subject online. Can anyone suggest a proper digital SLR that provides something next to a film camera?
Neither had a previous DSLR shutter lag substantially. They were built on quality, time-tested bodies film, so no perceptible shutter lag plagued them. Only the compact digital cameras and have had this problem. There are five main attractions for purchase of a DSLR. * Interchangeable lenses * No lag * larger sensors (physical size) * Superior on-board electronics processing * Use all the modern self-focus their lenses from 35mm brethren. Take an SD memory card with you to store your camera and take some action "shots with the D40. So try it with a digital compact cameras. You will immediately see (and feel) the difference. While you're there, look at the D80 as well.
