Digital Cameras Good for Video

As the D90 (and digital video cameras) to do it?
I never used a digital SLR video so far, but after watching the launch and review of the D90, one question comes to my mind. What happens to the hot pixels, a long exposure of the sensor? Not that they begin to appear? I am not very clear about how the video is captured on a sensor (without showing hot pixels). HowStuffWorks not provide such information I'm seeking.
