Digital Cameras for Sports

Do photographers still use film or digital cameras when shooting sports events, Register, LA Times?
For local news, digital has the edge. In the old days, was used to shoot a roll, to give our assistant and dry process, using its special alchemy. Then they printed it and put it Panafax in a magazine or newspaper to meet deadlines. Now I use a Wi-Fi and my assistant gets the pictures from my camera and send them to my editor via a FTP connection. Lot has changed. I still shoot a roll or two just to grinns, but in sports and news, digital rules
