What are some good digital cameras to consider for the beginning of professional photography?

I'm just getting into digital photography proffesional. What are some good cameras to start with? I made some photos, but I'm looking to buy a camera with a much better picture. I am looking for something under $ 300 U.S. dollars if possible.
