Digital Cameras Compare Features

I have a Canon 1000F and want to switch to a digital model. What do you suggest?

I am looking to spend up to $ 500, maybe more. It has to be very light as I like to travel a fair bit – the 1000F has been a great friend, it's just time to go digital. I do not feel the need for many snazzy features a fast wind, but it would be a great help. Clarity of shot is the most important – as has been said by several people that the digital equivalent is not compared to my old format in terms of image quality? Is this your experience? In terms of doing, I would like to stay with Canon as I have a few lenses – although I do not know if they will work in the new camera. So, does anyone also know if my 70-210 lens, which is old school glass and hard coating – which work in digital camera or I have to buy a new one? Thanking you in advance

I know the canon digital SLR eos400 * * is highly recommended – and seems to fit, if not beat the competition, which is even more expensive as the Nikon D80. This fits perfectly within your price range (400-500) I believe there is a possibility that your current canon lens can work with that too, although you may need to ask in a forum for photography. I do not think you would be disappointed with this camera, and remember, an SLR, which is certainly a bonus. read the review here http://dpreview.com/reviews/canoneos400d/
