There two things in the specifications indicate that the camera is not enough to make good pictures:. At this point the CMOS sensor type is not good in a chamber at low prices. This technology is expensive when done correctly (as in expensive D-SLR), but the low-cost versions are not good. Look for a "type CCD sensor" .. This camera only offers digital zoom. This means extending the "stretch" an image, rather than actually is increasing. Look for "Optical" zoom. But you do not have to be very "expensive" to get a decent camera for beginners. Lots of places have camera models mark of $ 100 to $ 150. Some have fewer resources or are older models. But they still have 3 MP's, CCD and optical zooms. And they will have pictures appealing to you. Take some time and go shopping! Good Luck
