Digital Camera Accessories Canon

What is the best option for digital SLRs Canon or Nikon?
I have an old manual Pentax SLR and a new point-ish Canon Powershot digital camera and film … but would like to upgrade to a new digital SLR. What do you recommend? Canon or Nikon … and that additional lenses and accessories that you would recommend? Thank his advice.
Since you have a PENTAX, if you have any extra lenses so you may want to look at the new PENTAX K-series DSLR cameras. Most recent is the K10D, which is 10MP, has image stabilization built into the body and accepts all previous K mount lenses. As to what lenses and accessories that you need is pretty much up to you. It's a good idea to list your photographic interests. If you want to do extreme close-ups of flowers, insects, etc., then you will want a true macro lens *. If you like sports, then a good long zoom will be needed – at least 300 mm long finish. If you want to make pictures, then a portrait lens equivalent to 85mm to 105mm should be on your list **. If you like wide sweeping scenics then you'll want a lens wide. The accessories, once again it depends on what your interests are. You will need a camera that supports an off-camera flash? You will be using a tripod or monopod? The only items I believe should absolutely, positively be in possession of any photographer are: Skylight 1A (not uncoated) or 1B (coated) filter that should live in every lens you own. These filters are inexpensive protection for this element of the front. A good quality (brand B + W, Hoya, TIFFEN – I've owned for years.) *** Circular Polarizing Filter. This filter can be used to produce the dark blue sky, reduce glare from water, glass or painted metal. * A true macro lens is a fixed-focal length, as the EF 70mm f2.8 macro. This gives a relationship between the reproduction of 1:2 (1 / 2 size) and 1:1 (life size). It is designed for close focusing and is a flat field lens. Zoom lens and close up on them usually are capable of a 1:4 (1 / 4 life size) of the image. ** This range, 85mm, 100mm, 105mm based on the fixed focal length of 35mm camera lens film. Depending on your choice of camera, the conversion factor is either 1.6 or 1.5 for a 50mm@1.6 would be equivalent to a 80 mm on a DSLR, a 70mm@1.6 = 112mm. Although many zoom lenses to cover this range, a fixed portrait lens focal length will be faster (possibly F2 or f2.8), which allows you to blur the background. NOTE: Resist the temptation to use the macro for portraits unless the subject has perfect skin. The macro is simply too sharp – it will show no defect in great detail. *** There are two types of polarizing filters – linear and circular. A linear will not work with AF and metering through the lens.
