Canon Minidv Camcorders
The JVC GY-HD200U and 250U are shoulder-style camcorder, which resembles broadcast cameras top professionals, only a little more small, making it the perfect solution for recording Electronic News Gathering (ENG) or reality shows and look like you're on a huge budget!
First I used the JVC GY-HD200U when working on a reality show in 2008 and I was surprised when I saw the images on my HD TV, the picture was perfect with rich colors and depth of field very good for an HDV camcorder. Because the camcorder is so long with the most weight in the back and to be distributed through it provides a very comfortable experience shooting, as it is a very thoughtful design.
HD200U/250U JVC Builds on the success of the previous JVC GY-HD110U and adds a super encoder capable of 1080i output 60P. Both record HDV camcorders in 1280 x 720 (720p) and comes with a big 16x Fujinon lens, and a high resolution 16:9 LCD viewfinder. The 1/3-inch bayonet Mount makes this camcorder able to add other third party lenses from Fujinon, Canon, etc.
The JVC GY-HD200U is practically the same camcorder as the JVC GY-HD250U, but it can be transformed into a studio camera when you add a KA-HD250 Studio Kit. The 250U adds also building genlock, timecode sync and HD-SDI. Both camcorders can record in either NTSC or PAL formats at various frame rates and interlaced progressive which makes this device very compatible for all kinds of productions and also for travel.
The JVC GY-HD250U and 200U records high definition video on regular MiniDV tapes, but with the optional DR-HD100U Direct-to Edit recorder, a hard disk workflow can be achieved, while simultaneously creating back-up material on digital tape.
The JVC GY-HD200U is a great professional camcorder and one of my favorites. Due to its ergonomic design and the capacity of interchangeable lenses became popular in the production of reality TV, documentaries and the new lower budget ENG crews.
