Canon Digital Cameras Software Downloads
Can I run the software from Canon Imaging Adobe Acrobat Reader or on my mac?
OK I have an iMac G3 running OS 9.22 to 350 MHz The software I downloaded to my Mac to work with my Canon digital camera will work, but only as a plug-in Adobe Photoshop. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I dare Adobe Reader and Acrobat contain most of the work even as Photoshop as they all do similar tasks. If I were to download or Acrobat Reader, this would be enough to run the software Canon and get my photos on my iMac? I knew that. Maybe I do not want right now. Maybe I do not want to be a mindless zombie slave to the concept of obsolescence planned.
You can find other software, but will not be Acrobat. For handling the picture will need some sort of graphics program (like Photoshop) that will allow the manipulation of image files (like JPEG, TIFF and BMP). Acrobat is basically just a publishing program that will allow do / read PDF files. You will need a program that will accept plug-ins for Photoshop. The other two come to mind are GraphicsConverter (shareware but works with OS9) and GIMP (freeware, but I think it will only work with OSX). If you go with OSX, you can also use Apple's iPhoto, which should be a version free somewhere in the OSX installation disks (in another program or optional). Alternatively, you can probably do it manually. If you connect the camera on you iMac (via USB) and connect the camera, the camera should mount as a removable drive (this will work in OSX and I suspect it will also work in OS9). Then you can move the image when moving files out of a removable drive.
