Camera Lenses Nikon D40

What lenses to a Nikon D40 DSLR for a beginner?
What lenses do you suggest for someone just starting with a DSLR? Bought a Nikon D40 and the kit came with a 18-55mm lens. I wanted a zoom lens, so I went out and got a 55-200 mm zoom. But now I'm thinking that the 18-135mm lens can be more versatile for a beginner and I'm thinking of changing lenses. I did try the 18-200mm. But the weight of the D40 camera body is relatively small and lightweight. And the 18-200mm lens is a little big for the camera and I thought that caused the camera to feel very heavy and off balance. I do not want to get to 18-135mm lens in addition to the other. I do not want to carry on Nikon lenses. I am looking for the Nikon D40 as an entry-level camera as I learn more about photography and cameras. I'm not convinced I will stay with Nikon. After a bit I can move to Canon. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
You have all the lenses you could possibly need for now. 18-200 mm is a scale that will let you shoot from wide-angle landscapes to sports and action. There is a kind of rule. Do not buy the focal twice. Always look for a lens out of the range that you already have. I suggest you look at an angle of 12-24 mm zoom to add to your system, or perhaps a nice macro. Your statement that the VR 18-200 mm lens is too big for the D40 is one of asthetics I imagine, since the lens itself was designed to be used by anyone other Nikon DSLR D40 to D300 you really are using a P & S point of view with its entry level DSLR. It is part of a system that includes lenses fisheye to telephoto extreme. Stick with the system you have … switching from brand to brand is really a wast of time and money. Navigation between the features of Nikon's totally different than the system from Canon. Learn to quickly make changes when switching from one brand to another, is somehow very similar to the passage of a Mac to a PC. There will be a learning curve and some time before you can intuitively use the new camera system you really need to go back to basics and take a class or two on the picture to hone your photography skills, instead of jumping from camera to camera jump is the camera that makes the photographer http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/notcamera . htm
