Camera Lenses Compatible with Canon

How do I know if my lenses will fit a Canon digital camera?
I have a Canon Elan 7 and was thinking of buying the Canon 50D. I have some lenses Canon to go with my camera and do not know if it would be compatible with the digital camera I was getting. How do I know if I can change the lenses between digital and film? So I know if I need to buy a lens to go with the camera or not. Thank you! I am open to any other comments about the camera too.
Yes, they are compatible. Canon lenses are not only compatible with the fingerprints are the new manual focus FD mount made before the advent of focus automatic. These lenses have been made before 1987. The new digital only lenses that EFs are marked are not compatible with his or Elan as full frame digitals the 5D and higher. There is really no reason to have more than 1 or 2 of these though. EFS 10-22mm in my opinion is the only lens EFS you must have. This is because there is an EF lens that is large enough on the culture or sensor APS-C size sensor low mid-range cameras for Canon. The only other lens EFs you may want to be the 18-55mm that comes with the Rebel cameras. However, there are better models of EF to cover this range as the F4L EF 17-40 for example. Bottom line is that they will work well.
