What is the difference between NTSC and PAL digital camcorder hard drive?
Looking to buy a line of hard drive camcorder but the description says the camcorder is in NTSC format. I thought digital cameras were all the formats, they cannot be reversed? Whats the difference? That means I can not use it in a PAL country? Thank you
NTSC is based on the AC 60 hertz frequency used here. PAL based on the AC 50 hertz frequency used in Europe and elsewhere. For video there is not much difference in that the device is concerned. What makes the difference is whether you want to burn video to DVD and / or read on different systems. There is a standard NTSC 24.97 FPS use DVD. It is for zone 0 compability. It's perfect for playing computer, but can be a problem with some DVD players that are table locked to a single zone. In your computer, you can change the format from NTSC to PAL with a video editor. This is not something automatic, it must configure everything correctly.
