Is there anyone who can help me get the video off my camcorder on my PC?

I have a camcorder Sony and want to transfer my holiday vid to my PC so I can burn a DVD. I have 3 sockets on the side of the camcorder / 1. standard USB connector, 2. DV OUT, 3. A / V OUT, 4. LANC. Ihave tried to use Windows Movie Maker but I can not connect using the USB standard. Is the correct socket to use. Is there a free easy to use? Please help .. Thank you very much

Connect the DV cable Out in the side the camcorder, plug it into the AV adapter, plug the AV cable into the other side of the adapter, attach the USB then go into your camcorder and copy and paste the footage!
